Humberto Borboa, originally from Mexicali, Baja California, is a passionate performer and teacher praised by the Arizona Daily Star as “ a powerful and bright tenor.” He made his professional debut in 2009 with Sociedad Artística Sinaloense in Mexico, singing the Tenor soloist in Carmina Burana. Humberto received his B.M. from Escuela Superior de Canto de Mazatlan in 2012 and is a 2013 Arizona District winner of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. In 2014 he earned a M.M. in Vocal Performance from the University of Arizona where he was a Teaching Assistant. Outside of performing both leading and supporting roles, Humberto is frequently invited to perform with the Lyric Opera of Chicago and Chicago Symphony Orchestra as part of their Chorus roster, where he has sung under the baton of internationally acclaimed conductors Sir Andrew Davis, Marco Armiliato, Marin Alsop, Riccardo Muti and Yannick Nezet-Seguin. He has actively performed throughout Mexico and the US, including recitals and operas in Antigua, Guatemala, Austria, Italy, and the Czech Republic. Humberto has been an Apprentice Artist for Tulsa Opera, Central City Opera and San Diego Opera where he recently made his house debut as Borsa in Verdi’s Rigoletto. Notable companies Humberto has been a featured soloist include Boulder Symphony, Musica Lirica, Tulsa Opera, Signature Symphony, Central City Opera, Opera Theatre of the Rockies, Arapahoe Philharmonic, Cherry Creek Chorale, Lake County Symphony, Da Corneto Opera, Marta Cardona Opera and Genesis Opera.Humberto resides in Tucson with his wife Jovahnna, and their dog Frank. He is excited to join Allegro School of Music in order to inspire others to achieve their goals in the beautiful art form of Singing.
