Violin Teacher, Jesus performs with TMC Healing Art Program
Tucson Medical Center’s Healing Art Program was established in 2014 to help patients heal with surroundings that inspire, encourage and cheer. Research shows that art in hospitals makes everyone feel better – reducing pain and anxiety and often shortening hospital stays. Music also has healing properties that have been well-documented, TMC took on formalizing the music program. It brought three harpists and one classical violinist into the Healing Art Program. These musicians appear randomly in the units of their choice, but always to delight and gratitude from the patients. Plans are in the works to greatly expand the number of musicians working at the hospital.
We are please to welcome our newest musician, Jesus Alva. If you are a patron of the restaurant Villa Peru, you may have heard his amazing violin performances. Jesus is a graduate of the National University of Music in Lima, Peru and began his studies as a violinist at the age of five. He has participated in various international music festivals and performed in New York City, Germany, Russia, Brazil, and Egypt.
