Allegro School of Music News – December/January 2024

Peaches is the pet of the month!

Your Name

Addie Le Peau

Tell us about your pet and why he or she should be the pet of the month!

Peaches is playful and very friendly to everyone she sees. She loves to do activites with the family like camping, hiking and swimming. She can be cuddly and relaxed and loves to get her belly rubbed. When someone walks in the door she’s super excited to see whoever is there and play with them. She also loves to fetch a ball and now she is good at returning it too. We love Peaches!

Congratulations, Addie and Peaches!

We are making a $100.00 donation to Barb’s Dog Rescue and sending you a $25.00 Petco card!

Glass Windows

While it is expected that older kids and teenagers will not want their parents to sit in on every music lesson, some parents may not feel comfortable with having their child in a separate room for a half-hour. To appease both students who wish for their lessons to be private and parents concerned about safety, we have installed windows on every single door so that parents can view their student’s lesson with peace of mind.

Office Staff

At our music academy, we require office staff to be present during lessons. Many other music academies have tight budgets and cannot afford the extra expense of employing office staff. In our opinion, this is not a safe practice and is irresponsible on the part of the academy. Our academy always has office staff present so that students are never left alone with teachers.

Background Checks

We require that teachers and staff members undergo extensive background checks. Our teachers are required to pass four tests: a National Offender Search, Statewide Criminal Background Check, National Criminal Background Check, and Social Security Number Verification. We view this as a necessary measure to preserve the safety and integrity of our academy.

Security Cameras

The safety of our students is our top priority, so we have security cameras in every single room. The precautionary program may be costly to the academy, but such a feature is worth it if it keeps our students safe and gives the parents peace of mind.

Open-Door Policy

Our school has an open-door policy for parents, which means that they’re invited to sit in on their child’s lessons. This should be something you look for when selecting an appropriate music school for your family.

Allegro will soon be offering Dance Classes!

Reasons to choose Allegro for Dance Classes

Professional Level Floating Floor

All of our dance classes in Tucson feature a professional level floor. Dance is a very physical activity that requires a lot of jumping. This can put stress on bones and joints. Most dance footwear does not provide any cushioning or support, so the shock of dance movement can place a lot of pressure on the knees and back of a dancer. The best way to prevent against potential injury is by choosing a studio with a professional “floating floor”. A floating floor is a dance floor that rests on a system of high-density foam, to absorb the shock of jumping. A high-density foam base is superior to a “sprung” floor, which usually consists of a wood structure built on the regular floor.

The top layer of the dance floor is also an important factor. A vinyl composite “marley” floor is accepted worldwide as the best surface layer for recreational to professional dance. Facilities such as the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, the Royal Academy of Dance in London, England, and Riverdance – The Touring Show, all use marley floors as their dance surface. A marley floor allows dancers to slide, with a degree of “controlled slip”, but is not slippery so there is less risk of slips and falls. Very few studios use professional marley floors because of the expense involved, and usually opt for a regular floor tile for a studio floor.

All of our studio locations have floating floors that have over 700 high density foam blocks under the floor surface and a marley top surface that is imported from England. Our special floors help reduce the risk of injuries and allow students to dance longer without getting tired.

Small Class Size

If the dance class has fewer students in it each child will receive more personalized attention, learn more and have more fun. With younger students smaller classes make it easier for a teacher to maintain control over the class and make sure each student understands the concepts and instructions. Our smaller class sizes make sure that no fundamental concepts are being missed. A smaller class size also allows our teachers to ensure that students are not developing bad habits or improper technique.

Our studio limits all of our classes (ages 6 and up) to a maximum of just 12 students per class. With our preschool dance classes (ages 3 – 5) we limit the size of the classes to a maximum of just 8 students per class.

Friendly Office Staff, Seven days a week

At most dance classes in Tucson, the teacher or the studio owner conducts classes and does the administration. By trying to do two jobs at once, the class may suffer as the teacher has to use class time for customer service issues, or the studio may have no customer service available if the teacher is in a class. To have a good experience it is important to choose a studio that can assist you with details like costumes or schedules, even if a teacher is occupied in a class. Our studios have office staff on hand during all regular class times, so you can get immediate assistance.

Thank you for the 5 Star Reviews

Kathleen Marron  ★★★★★

Now I’m ready to join other ukulele players in Tucson! My teacher and his guidance is amazing.

Erica Winfield  ★★★★★

Katie my piano teacher is a great piano teacher. And the office manager Sarah is nice too.

Paul Carini  ★★★★★

We’re very happy with our drum instructor Chris and how he’s doing with our 7-year-old. They’re not quite John Bonham yet, but we’re making good steady progress.
