Get your kids off phones and on musical instruments!
9 Benefits of learning a musical instrument
It builds language skills. As they learn their instrument, children become accustomed to different sounds that they would not have recognized before. This practice trains their ears for the nuances and subtle sounds of language.
It makes them stronger academically. Researchers have found connections between music lessons and nearly every measure of academic achievement: SAT scores, high school GPA, reading comprehension, and math skills. Music also improves their powers of recall for powerful learning in all subjects.
It increases their IQ. Numerous studies (including this one in 2004 by E. Glenn Schellenberg) have proven that children’s IQs increase because of even a few weeks of music lessons. Brain scan technology reveals that brain activity increases following musical training, and some parts of the brain even grow larger!
It teaches them discipline. Your child may be expecting to become a viral sensation overnight, but in fact, he may have to spend hours even just learning the proper way to hold that violin or trumpet before he can even make a sound. Music lessons require hours of concentration and patience. Children must persevere even when things aren’t going well…an invaluable skill for all areas of life.
It supports muscle development and motor skills. Children must use their whole bodies to keep the rhythm going when they play. They also must coordinate different motions with their hands at the same time. In doing so, they develop strength and coordination.
It improves social skills. If children play in a group, they have to learn to work together to achieve a common goal, exercising tolerance, patience, and encouragement towards their peers.
It makes kids feel good about themselves. There’s nothing quite like the sense of pride that comes from working on building a new skill for an extended period of time…especially when the result is beautiful music.
It helps kids understand culture. By learning music from various parts of the globe, students come to understand these cultures, whether it’s African drumming or Argentine tango music.
It brings joy. And finally, we come to the most important reason of all. When children can play music, it makes them happy…and everyone else too.
2022 Summer Music Lessons

Dear Allegro Students and Parents,
Now is the time that many of us are making plans for Summer activities and vacations. Here’s what we have to offer you this June and July. We have great options for those who want to “Supercharge” their music lessons and make a lot of progress, as well as flexible options for those of you who are going to be in and out of town a lot.
Current students who want to play more get 25% off in June and July!
Summer in Tucson is a great time to stay indoors and practice playing music. It’s a great time to try out another instrument, or take additional lessons and get more practice time in. We always have some lesson times that open up in June and July, and we are offering those times to our currently enrolled students at a 25% discount! This discount only applies to our currently enrolled students who are looking to add more music to their schedules this summer. We suggest that you contact us before May 15th, as many summer lesson times will be taken by others if you wait until June.

Are you planning on withdrawing from lessons this Summer? 🙁 🙁
Most students who drop for the summer never start playing again.
We’d hate to see that happen to you! So please come talk to us in the office about your summer plans, and we’ll see if we can help you keep playing music. Remember, we can Zoom live lessons, send online video lessons, and work with your busy schedules to make sure you don’t lose all the progress you made during the year.
Friendly Reminders
1. If you withdraw for the Summer, you are most likely giving up your day, time and teacher. Many of our teachers are sold out from 2:00-8:00. Your lesson time and teacher will probably not be available for you in the fall if you withdraw for the summer.
2. If you withdraw for the summer you will lose much of the progress you have made. While a week or two off is a healthy break, music students who do not take lessons or practice for extended periods in the summer will backslide and lose much of what they have worked so hard to develop.
3. Withdrawal Deadlines. The withdrawal Deadline for June is May 15th. The Withdrawal Deadline for July is June 15th.
The bottom line is that we want to make sure that you have a great summer of music with us. We’ll do whatever we can to help our students stay focused on reaching their musical goals.

Kenzo has taken Lessons at Allegro for over 2 years. He loves his teacher Mary Ann that retired. He loves his new teacher Elizabeth. Thank you for making this fun and rewarding for him. I hope he carries this skill into the future. It gives him the gift of music and teaches discipline. Practice makes perfect.
