April 2018 News

Meet our 900th Student!

Student 900, Khoa Ho

In March, we enrolled our 900th student, Khoa Ho.

CONGRATULATIONS KHOA, YOU’VE WON SIX MONTHS OF FREE LESSONS!

Khoa is taking guitar lessons with John! His enrollment marks another milestone for the school as we now have our largest-ever active enrollment of over 900 students taking lessons every week!

Allegro School of Music started as a very small studio and has become the largest private music school in Southern Arizona!

This has been a long time in the making and we wanted to take this opportunity to thank YOU, our students and families for making Allegro School of Music Tucson’s Number One Choice for Music lessons!

THANK YOU FOR CHOOSING ALLEGRO SCHOOL OF MUSIC!

It’s Recital Time!

Recitals are May 6th, 19th and 20th at the University of Arizona

We are the ONLY Music School in Tucson who rolls out the red carpet for our students and their families in two FREE Recitals each year.  Allegro Recitals are held in the beautiful Recital Hall at the University of Arizona School of Music.  The facilities are top notch, and all piano students get to perform on a Steinway grand piano!

Thanks for giving us 5 Star Google Reviews this Month!

Reginald Westmacott 03/15/18

★★★★★ Currently taking adult piano lessons with Neal at the Broadway location and it’s been great! I can’t speak for the other teachers but Neal is extremely knowledgable and sets a good pace. The price is also reasonable.

Karen Murphy 3/10/2018

★★★★★ My son has been taking lessons for one month with Sean and I can already sing along to his playing! He really enjoys his lessons at Allegro and everyone there has been so very very nice. Couldn’t recommend this music center any more they seem to teach all instruments.

Iris Hamilton 03/07/18

★★★★★ Allegro is great family friendly music school for children and adults of all ages. The environment is very welcoming, the staff and instructors are friendly, professional and knowledgeable. Is you’re looking for a music school in tucson allegro music school definitely the place to go.

Here’s How the Summer Works…

Now is the time that many of us are making plans for Summer Travel and Vacations.  For your convenience and ease of planning, we’ve mailed you the schedule of Summer Make-Up Classes for May through September, 2018.  You may also pick up a copy in the office.

Here’s how you make up lessons you miss…

  • Please select the classes you’d like to attend for the weeks you will miss due to Summer Travel and email or call the office so that we can sign you up.  Remember, you can start making up lessons for the weeks you’ll miss before or after your trip!
  • Additionally, Skype video lessons are also available for students who are out of town.  Please contact the office for more info on Skype Lessons.
  • Finally, if you’d like to “sub-lease” your spot to a friend for the summer, please contact the office for details on how to do this.

Neil A. Russakoff Memorial Scholarship

2018 Winner, Stephen Sziklai!

The Neil A. Russakoff Scholarship has been organized to provide funding for music students who wish to study at Allegro School of Music. The scholarship is offered to one student annually who exhibits a unique dedication to and love of music. During the selection process, consideration is given to the applicant’s financial need, work ethic, and musical talent.

The scholarship seeks to honor and memorialize the life of Dr. Neil A. Russakoff, who died on September 23, 2016 of complications from bone marrow transplantation due to chronic lymphocytic leukemia.  Neil attended Allegro School of Music from 2002-2016 and studied the electric, acoustic and classical guitar. Neil enjoyed playing music from a wide range of styles: especially music by Doc Watson, Leo Kottke, Lynyrd Skynyrd and J.S. Bach.   Beyond his musical life, Neil was a respected pediatrician, husband, father, and avid sports fan, known for his gentle and kind spirit.

Neil continued to attend his guitar lessons during most of his 5 year battle with cancer.  His grit, work ethic and unwillingness to give up on what he loved is an inspiration that we will continue to carry with us.

It is this spirit of hard work, love of music, and integrity that we hope to nurture through the Neil Russakoff Scholarship.
