Jess Barrera is an accomplished opera singer and performer who has studied under many reputable teachers in Los Angeles, Riverside, and San Diego. Jess began singing and performing in high school, with director John Byun, and then in college with the Mt. San Antonio College Chamber Choir under the direction of Bruce Rogers. He traveled with that choir and performed at American Choral Director’s Associations all across the country, Carnegie Hall performances, and won the Pavarotti Trophy and the title of Choir of the World at the international competition in Llangollen, Wales.
Since moving to Tucson, Jess has helped countless high school and college students enhance their musical abilities in both guitar and voice. He has not given up his passion for performing and has sung with the San Diego Opera for 3 years as well as being tenor soloist with Tucson’s Helios Ensemble and the featured musician for several local churches. Jess is passionate about helping singers improve and is excited about upcoming performance and conducting opportunities.
