
Filipino-American tenor Alexander Lionheart studied voice performance at the University of Arizona and the Royal College of Music (London). At the University of Arizona, he was a John Bloom Scholar, Medici Scholar, and Opera Guild of Southern Arizona Scholar; and he won multiple awards in various University of Arizona singing competitions. He also was an Apprentice Artist with Charlottesville Opera, where he performed in their production of Rodger and Hammerstein’s “South Pacific.”
Alex has performed the roles of Father Confessor in “Dialogue of the Carmelites,” La Théière and Le Petit Veillard in “L’Enfant et les sortilèges,” and Nanki-Poo in “The Mikado” for the University of Arizona Opera Theater, and the Tenor Soloist in Haydn’s “Mass in a Time of War” for the University of Arizona Community Chorus.
Alex has been teaching music in a variety of settings since 2009. He specializes in voice, and has experience teaching classical, opera, musical theater, and pop. Alex also teaches beginning piano, music theory, and music literacy.
