Pamela, Piano/Voice
Pamela M. Dean has been teaching in schools for over twenty years and teaching music lessons for thirty years. A five-time award-nominated and two-time award-winning teacher herself, her students have successfully auditioned for roles in touring productions, community theater, high school musicals, section leaders in their school bands, and first chair of their orchestras. Several of her students have performed at the Tucson Folk Festival’s Young Perfomer’s Showcase. Her award-winning ensembles include bands, choirs, and small groups. She has produced numerous musicals with up to 130 students participating and co-wrote a musical with students in one school. She instigated the inaugural K-12 music program on a Cree Reservation that had never had music in its school before, which included sixteen choirs, numerous instrumental groups, a rock band, and over 200 fiddle students. She regularly performs both by herself and with her students, is a member of local and regional choirs, is the organist at her church, and was one of the music leaders for a Tucson Cultural Celebration in 2017 that featured 3000 youth from the Tucson Valley. She is also a published arranger of music and encourages her students to arrange, compose, and record music. Pamela loves seeing students progress in their chosen styles. She specializes in piano of all levels, pop-style singing, musical theater, and music fun time for the very young and those with special needs, and also teaches beginner strings and woodwinds in her spare time. One of the first teachers at the Eastside location, Pamela has both a music degree and an education degree.
