Zachary, Piano
Zachary Van Houten is a classically trained pianist from Provo, Utah. He started piano at the age of seven, which started him on a fantastic musical journey. Along the way, he has played the Flute, Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Accordion, Trumpet and French horn. He enjoys playing many types of music, including classical, jazz, musical theater, rock/pop, and more. He has performed as a soloist and as a member of bands, orchestras, and other chamber ensembles. Currently, he is the Music Instructor and Band/Orchestra Director at BASIS Tucson North. In 2018, he earned a DMA in Music Composition with a minor in French horn performance from the University of Arizona. He has a Master’s and Bachelor’s in Music Composition from Brigham Young University. As a performer and student, he has travelled to Japan, South Korea, Czech Republic, Hungary, Austria, Germany, and Italy. In 2012, he was part of a music-intensive study abroad in Vienna.
