Terry is a teacher, composer, and pianist who has been teaching for over thirty years. He studied music, jazz and classical piano at the Interlochen Arts Academy and the California Institute of the Arts. He Studied Privately with Classical Greats, Leonid Hambro and Johanna Harris, as well as Jazz Piano with Jazz Great Harry Fields, becoming his teaching assistant in 1983. Terry employs a flexible approach to piano teaching, utilizing the traditional graded book methods along with some innovative approaches to Ear Training, playing chords, and improvisation geared towards putting the student’s two hands together with songs as soon as possible, whilst keeping the “Fun” & interest factors as high as possible.
